To increase awareness of the vulnerable marine environment, Baros has introduced a new online area. Since 2006, the island resort has been working hard to restore and plant coral in an effort to counter the damaging effects of rising sea temperatures on corals. The resort uses a variety of methods to encourage growth, including nursery-like pools, suspended lines in the blue lagoon, the renowned Baros coral cubes, and customized frames with name tags and love messages. Visitors can get involved in the coral restoration project by sponsoring coral frames. 458 coral frames have received sponsorship to this point.

The Divers Baros Maldives team, known as the “Baros Underwater Ambassadors,” has shared their favourite underwater stories, highlighting the island resort’s sustainability initiatives and other valuable insights. The dedicated section features entertaining short stories that provide valuable knowledge in an educational and playful way, revolving around marine flora and fauna, characteristics of resident marine creatures, and the natural order of things underwater. The platform also includes practical tips for divers and snorkellers, such as diving slowly and avoiding touching the reef and marine creatures. The Baros underwater ambassadors present a diverse range of information on the fragile marine ecosystem, its interconnectedness, and the natural balance that can easily be disrupted due to human behaviour. The private island resort has also implemented eco-friendly practices to reduce its environmental impact, such as replacing plastic straws with paper straws, banning plastic bags, and using glass water and refreshment bottles that are reused for multiple fillings. Baros remains committed to continued progress in terms of sustainability, improving its services one step at a time.

A new Generation Sea program is being introduced at Fairmont Maldives, Sirru Fen Fushi to encourage visitors of all ages to embrace their inner mermaid. A Coralarium, an underwater art museum and coral regeneration project, and The Sustainability Lab, where visitors may transform plastic trash into wonder, are all included in the program. Children can learn about the fascinating marine life of the Maldives, practice mermaid swimming, and participate in conservation programs with the resort's on-site marine biologist. Additionally, they can join the marine biologist on a tour of the Coralarium to see tropical schooling fish and get up close and personal with manta rays. They can even make exclusive Generation Sea bracelets from ghost nets that have been taken from the water.

Visitors at the resort have the chance to see the 9-kilometer-long house reef with local partner Sub Oceanic. Additionally, they can benefit from the distinctive activities offered at the Kids' Club or the painting studio. Families can relax in their Beach Tented Villa located on the island's sugar-white sands after a day of touring. The villas, which have a sizable decking area, an outdoor tub, and an own butler, provide a distinctive alternative to conventional beach and overwater accommodations. Guests can partake in a private beach BBQ with a pop-up movie and freshly cooked popcorn as dusk sets.

A comprehensive plan to elevate the Maldives to the top spot in the world for sustainable tourism has been unveiled by Mausoom. With the help of the plan, the Maldives will be able to attract more elderly visitors and visitors with special needs, safeguard the idea of "one island, one resort," and raise money for social services. In addition, the safari/yacht industry needs to grow and the tourism industry needs to be regulated. Mausoom is dedicated to making the Maldives a place that makes its inhabitants happy and supports them in overcoming the obstacles posed by the outside world.

The Fifth tourist Master Plan (5TMP), which outlines the industry's vision, policy goals, and strategies for the following five years, was issued by the Maldives' tourist ministry on Thursday. The plan looks at key areas for improving the tourism sector, including the regulatory environment, business climate, human resource development, environmental preservation, information and communication technology, social and cultural context, and safety and security.

The 5TMP is a comprehensive and ambitious plan that aims to position Maldives as the world’s leading destination in sustainable tourism with a special focus on making Maldives an accessible tourism destination. It highlights priority areas for policy decisions on the tourism industry over the 2023–2027 plan period, such as improving the business environment, developing a skilled workforce, conserving the environment, using information and communication technology, promoting cultural tourism, preserving the Maldives’ unique culture and heritage, ensuring the safety and security of tourists, and strengthening the legal framework for tourism. The plan is based on extensive consultations with industry stakeholders and incorporates the latest international best practices. It is a positive development for the Maldives’ tourism industry, as it focuses on sustainability and accessibility, and helps to make the Maldives a more attractive destination for investors and businesses.
