Unique for its mangrove areas, the island of Kendhikolhudhoo lies in the corner of Noonu Atoll. The island is more than 3 miles long and features huge lakes.
The mangroves are called “Mai falhu”, “Dhimaafalhu”, “Hikikulhi”, “Tholhifalhu”, “Gan’baafalhu”, “Fin’dhana Gonni” and “Gaathudee kolhu”.
These beautiful mangroves had saved the island from the Indian Ocean Tsunami in 2004 by taking much of the damage.
