Shark Survey is being planned by marine biologists

The Maldives' Lhaviyani Atoll is a famous diving destination for scuba divers. The majestic animals can be seen at a number of dive sites. Since 2010, shark fishing has been prohibited in the Maldives, making it a shark sanctuary. The Maldives is a well-known shark hotspot, with a diverse number of species frequently seen. The shark population in the Lhaviyani Atoll will be assessed as part of a new research initiative. The project will use Baited Remote Underwater Video (BRUV) to monitor the reef shark population's stability. Shark diving lessons are available at Hurawalhi Maldives' Prodivers Dive Center.
