Visit Maldives collaborates with Iberia Airline

Maldives and Iberia Airlines will collaborate on a marketing effort to showcase the Maldives as a top-of-mind destination and safe sanctuary for Spanish tourists. The ad intends to encourage and motivate people to book Maldives vacations for their next summer vacations, so assisting in the rebuilding and recovery of the Spanish market following the pandemic's travel restrictions. During July and August 2021, a combination of aboard, online, social media, and external actions will be carried out.
On July 3rd, 2021, Iberia, Spain's national flag carrier, began direct flight operations between Madrid and Male', with 218 passengers going onboard Iberia's debut aircraft to Maldives. The Spanish airline will operate three weekly flights to the Maldives from July to August 2021. The Maldives will be advertised on boarding passes and in the business class of Iberian Airlines.
On July 15, 2020, the Maldives reopens its borders to tourists of all nations, with strict processes in place to safeguard the safety of visitors and tourism workers. As of May 2021, Maldives had welcomed around 6,249 tourists from Spain, making it the 13th most popular destination in the country. Visit Maldives, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, has launched the "I'm Vaccinated" campaign to spread a positive message about the need of vaccination among tourism workers.
