With the opening of Alila Villas Maldives, Alila Hotels will make a comeback to the Maldives. The resort is a joint venture between Sanken Construction and Orca Holding, both of which are based in Sri Lanka. The resort will be managed by Hyatt Hotels under the Alila brand. Alila Maldives Hadahaa first opened its doors in 2009. Park Hyatt took over the administration of the resort later that year.
The Alila Villas Maldives will have 80 beachfront and overwater villas with views of the sunrise or sunset. The resort is located in the Raa Atoll and can be reached by seaplane from Velana International Airport approximately 45 minutes. In 2018, Hyatt purchased Two Roads Hospitality, which managed Alila Hotels. The hotel has already begun advertising employment openings for the new resort.
