On the 28th of this month, Air India will resume service to the Maldives. Air India is India's flag carrier airline, and it has been flying between the two countries for more than a decade. The recent loosening of travel restrictions for South Asian visitors by the Maldivian government has resulted in an increase in demand from Indian carriers.
Air India has started flying direct to the Maldives from Trivandrum, Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, and Delhi. Although there is no mandated quarantine or testing upon arrival, travellers visiting the Maldives must fill out an online health declaration form and provide a negative PCR test result obtained at least 96 hours prior to departure. For the first time in three years, Air India is offering direct flights.
