The Maldives' Tourism Ministry has announced the launch of a special inspection program to evaluate hotel and guesthouse compliance. The tourism ministry has suspended the operating licenses of four guest houses since the program began. According to a tweet, the ministry is auditing the Health Protection Agency's and the Ministry's compliance with COVID-19 standards.
The Maldives has implemented COVID-19 measures in every available location. A large number of personnel in the tourism business have been fully vaccinated. South Asian travelers will be able to book guesthouses in the Maldives again by the end of the month. The President's Office spokesperson previously stated that the Health Emergency Operations Centre (HEOC) intends to have 95 percent of all guesthouse staff completely vaccinated.
