Qatar Airways participates in the Turbulence Aware Platform

Qatar Airways will join the IATA Turbulence Aware program as the first airline in the Middle East. Pilots and dispatchers can choose optimal flight paths, avoid turbulence, and fly at optimal altitudes to maximize fuel efficiency and reduce CO2 emissions, thanks to the real-time, accurate data. When the program was launched as a pilot experiment in December 2018, Qatar Airways was the first Middle Eastern carrier to join.

Qatar Airways has become the first airline from the Middle East to join the Turbulence Aware initiative, which aims to improve flight safety and efficiency. "We applaud this substantial commitment by Qatar Airways in being the first Mideast carrier to join," stated Willie Walsh, Director General of the International Air Transport Association. Along with other programs like carbon offsetting and environmentally friendly jet fuel, the airline sees this as a way to assist the aviation industry meet its carbon targets.
