Amilla to host week-long celebration of Maldives

Posted on: 7/8/2021, 9:29:44 AM
Amilla Maldives Resort and Residences will be honoring Maldivian culture for a whole week. The Maldives Cultural Week at the Baa Atoll resort will begin on Eid-al-Adha, a major national holiday, on July 20th and run through July 26th, Maldives Independence Day. Cultural activities, games, music, and culinary delights will be featured throughout the week. It is thought to be a first for any Maldives resort.
The resort will be home to a Maldivian Island hamlet made of woven palm fronds and coconut thatch, as it has been for generations. Families will be entertained by traditional craft workshops and demonstrations, such as basket making. A range of Maldivian culinary workshops will be available for aspiring chefs. Without the country's traditional drumming and dance, known as 'Bodu Beru,' no celebration would be complete. Guests will be thrilled with a riveting spectacle mixing modern and traditional fire dance on Maldives Independence Day, the finale of the festivities.
