The Minister of Tourism defends homestay tourism

Despite concerns made by the Maldives Guesthouse Association, Tourism Minister Dr. Abdulla Mausoom has supported the introduction of homestay tourism, claiming that it will help the Maldives significantly (GAM).

The Maldives' government, GAM, has approved the implementation of a homestay system in the country. Homestay is a popular type of hospitality in which visitors share a home with a local family. Minister Mausoom stated that setting suitable norms will assist countless tourism establishments in the Maldives. Homestays, sports, cultural tourism, and MICE tourism are all examples of tourism that the government is attempting to implement.
