Maldives' resorts commemorate World Oceans Day

Special activities were organized by resorts in the Maldives to commemorate and celebrate World Oceans Day 2021. The Maldives' ocean depends on coral reef ecosystems to survive. From protected areas to shark fishing bans to many protected marine species, the island nation is committed to conservation. The Maldives are made up of only 1% land and 98% water.

At the Four Seasons Maldives Kuda Huraa and Landaa Giraavaru, runners and joggers competed simultaneously to #RunForTheOceans. Ten plastic bottles were cleaned up for every kilometer run.

Six Senses' MUI Guests and hosts were welcome to snorkel the entire house reef with Laamu. MUI has various marine discussion projects on the Maldives' home reef, which is fully protected.
