The Tourism Ministry conducted a meeting

Meetings for local tourist development are being held by the Tourism Diversification and Localisation Unit and members of the Tourism Ministry's Excom. Discussions on local island tourist development and diversification are part of the conference. On the same day, the ministry held discussions with Shaviyani Atoll's council and parliament members.

In the first month of 2021, the Maldives received nearly 450,000 tourists. Despite numerous obstacles, the Maldives hopes to welcome 1.5 million tourists by 2021. India, one of the island archipelago's key tourism source markets, has prohibited admission. On the 4th of June 2021, the Maldives Tourism Ministry hosted the first meeting of the Tourism Golden Jubilee Steering Committee. From January 1, 2021 to January 31, 2019, 454,383 tourists visited the Maldives.
