64,616 tourists visited Maldives in May

In May, 64,616 tourists arrived in the Maldives, with an average daily arrival of 2,086. In May 2021, there was a significant drop in tourist arrivals compared to the previous four months.
By the end of May, the total number of visitors for the year had reached 454,383. The decision to cancel tourist visas for Indian travelers is blamed for the drop in visitors. Prior to the restrictions, India was the leading source of tourist arrivals in the Maldives.
