Posted on: 6/3/2021, 12:34:38 PM
The magic of the ocean is the focus of Meeru Island Resort & Spa's June celebration. On World Reef Awareness Day, June 2, 2021, the resort kicked off the festivities. One of the most effective coral restoration initiatives in the Maldives is Meeru's Coral Restoration Project. The resort can use this effort to raise awareness about coral reefs and the problems they face around the world.
Meeru's Coral Garden has been planted with about 3,000 coral fragments from 14 distinct kinds. The lagoon is home to around 22 different fish species, including some unusual ones like ghost pipefish and tetralia crab. The Coral Garden Project is managed by a well-trained team of individuals who keep an eye on the area to clean up algae and monitor temperature variations that affect coral growth. Five distinct coral plantation methods have been studied and applied in the coral garden thus far.
A web camera has been put in the coral garden by the Meeru resort staff. The live webcam broadcast can be viewed on the Meeru website. The Meeru Island Resort staff has planned a variety of activities for guests to participate in on June 8, 2021, in honor of World Oceans Day 2021. The resort is dedicated to setting the highest standards in order to become the Maldives' most sustainable resort.
