The COVID-19 vaccination has been administered to 65 percent of Maldives tourism workers for the second time. The first dose was given to 95% of employees. The WTTC Safety Stamp was obtained by the island government long before the immunizations were made available.
This year, the Maldives hopes to welcome 1.5 million tourists. As of May 29th, 2021, more than 30% of this goal had been met. Tourist arrivals grew by approximately 17.9% in the first five months of 2021 compared to the same period in 2020. With the 'Visit, Vaccinate, Vacation' project, the Maldives wants to provide immunizations to visitors. Travelers of all countries are welcome to visit the holiday resort. In the first half of 2021, the country received over 450,000 tourists.
