Maldives to unveil the fifth tourism master plan

The Fifth tourist Master Plan (5TMP), which outlines the industry's vision, policy goals, and strategies for the following five years, was issued by the Maldives' tourist ministry on Thursday. The plan looks at key areas for improving the tourism sector, including the regulatory environment, business climate, human resource development, environmental preservation, information and communication technology, social and cultural context, and safety and security.
The 5TMP is a comprehensive and ambitious plan that aims to position Maldives as the world’s leading destination in sustainable tourism with a special focus on making Maldives an accessible tourism destination. It highlights priority areas for policy decisions on the tourism industry over the 2023–2027 plan period, such as improving the business environment, developing a skilled workforce, conserving the environment, using information and communication technology, promoting cultural tourism, preserving the Maldives’ unique culture and heritage, ensuring the safety and security of tourists, and strengthening the legal framework for tourism. The plan is based on extensive consultations with industry stakeholders and incorporates the latest international best practices. It is a positive development for the Maldives’ tourism industry, as it focuses on sustainability and accessibility, and helps to make the Maldives a more attractive destination for investors and businesses.
