Direct flights to the Maldives

From July 2021 onwards, SATA Air Açores will provide direct flights to the Maldives. Around the Azores, the airline runs scheduled passenger, freight, and mail services. On the 20th of May, a delegation from Portugal, including businessmen, investors, government officials, and media representatives, will arrive in the Maldives to officially launch the operations.

There are currently 29 airlines flying to the Maldives from all over the world. Iberia, Spain's national carrier, has also announced that it will begin operations in July 2021. In 2020, the Maldives achieved its target of welcoming more than 500,000 tourists (a total of 555,494 arrivals recorded)
