The Air Astana initiative has elements aimed at both B2B and B2C customers. Familiarization tours, webinars for travel agents, and customer advertisement campaigns are among the marketing practices. The campaign's efforts would help to sustain the destination's popularity in the Kazakh economy.
On December 5, 2020, Air Astana launched the first direct flight to the Maldives. For the first time, Kazakhstan's economy ranked in the top five in terms of arrivals in the Maldives. A total of 345,261 travelers have arrived in the Maldives as of April 14, 2021, with 14,567 from the Kazakhstan market. During this session, the most recent information about the destination, as well as the arrival and departure protocols in the new normal, was outlined.
On July 15, 2020, the Maldives reopens its borders to visitors of all nationalities. To ensure the welfare of visitors and tourism staff, strict protocols have been put in place. Tourists who have not had the final dose of the vaccine at least 14 days prior to arrival must fill out an online health declaration form within 24 hours of leaving.
