As part of Velaa's charitable scheme, three health care organizations will each collect MVR 250,000. The American Cancer Society, the Maldivian Cancer Society, and the Maldivian Thalassemia Society will each receive $250,000. In 2018, the resort celebrated its fifth anniversary, and support began.
Care Society is the Maldives' oldest non-profit organization. It has worked in a variety of humanitarian fields since its inception. Care began offering community-based recovery services in 2004, with the aim of improving the lives of disabled persons and empowering local populations. CSM helps by raising cancer awareness, offering care, and disseminating knowledge and services.
The Maldives Thalassaemia Society (MTS) was established in 1994 with the sole goal of improving and enhancing the lives of thalassaemia patients in the Maldives. Petr Kolar, a renowned Czech architect, planned Velaa Private Island. There are 47 private villas, apartments, and exclusive homes at the resort.
