During the four-day show, the Maldives will be advertised as the most popular diving destination. The biggest showcase of tourism, tools, and activities for people interested in healthy lifestyles and water-based activities is the Moscow Dive Show.
MITT 2021, Russia's biggest travel trade show, will be attended by Visit Maldives. In partnership with Expedia Group, the Maldives is launching a global campaign aimed at Russia. Visit Maldives recently welcomed a Moya Planeta TV team and a National Geographic photographer in the Maldives as part of two media familiarization trips. More events aimed at the Russian market are planned for the coming months.
Russia is the second best performing sector in the Maldives, accounting for 21.3 percent of overall arrivals. The Maldives have received over 302,491 tourist arrivals as of April 2nd, 2021. On July 15, 2020, the Maldives reopened its borders to tourists of all nationalities, with strict protocols in place to ensure the welfare of visitors and tourism staff. In the coming months, the government plans to offer free COVID-19 vaccine to all civilians and inhabitants of the Maldives. As of March 27th, 224,979 people had received the vaccine, with 14,898 frontline tourism staff among them.
