Maldives intends to launch homestay tourism

The Maldives intends to establish homestay tourism in January 2022, according to Tourism Minister Abdulla Mausoom.
Many islands have expressed interest in the concept, and residents are said to be eager to invite visitors inside their homes. The Maldives' Ministry of Tourism has toured and visited six atolls in order to gather information for the debut of the homestay concept. The following atolls were visited:
On January 1, 2022, the Maldives will begin offering homestays, with the first location being Meemu Dhiggaru. The main reason for this is that there are now no guesthouses or other forms of tourism on the island. All essential legal reforms, according to Tourism Minister Abdulla Mausoom, will be completed by January 2022. When the Homestay idea is first offered, 50 rooms will be available.
