Dr. Abdulla Mausoom, the Maldives' Tourism Minister, announced that the country is expecting a new record number of tourist arrivals in a single day today. The minister stated on Twitter that today's arrivals demonstrate tourists' trust in the Maldives. On March 26th, 2021, a new record of 5,516 tourist arrivals was reached.

From January 1, 2021, to July 28, 2021, the Maldives received around 600,000 tourists. Since the country reopened its borders last year, the tropical vacation spot has maintained its standing as one of the world's most fashionable places. In 2021, the island archipelago hopes to welcome 1.5 million visitors.
