Saudia has begun flights to Maldives

On May 20, 2021, Saudi Arabia's national flag carrier began operating flights to the Maldives. The airline plans to fly to the tropical vacation spot four times a week. Saudia Airlines had previously provided travel advice for 38 countries, including the Maldives. Travelers to Saudi Arabia must obtain a certificate from a recognized screening center.
Saudi Arabia's ban on its citizens traveling abroad was lifted on May 17, 2021. The Maldives and Saudi Arabia have a close bilateral relationship. The kingdom has aided the island nation in the construction of a number of ventures and infrastructure projects. Flights to the Maldivian archipelago are available from 30 different airlines. Between January 1st and May 21st, 2021, 437,995 visitors visited the island, representing a 14.4% rise over the same timeframe in 2020.
