The Maldives has tightened visa limits for countries in South Asia (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka).
Work Permit Holders from South Asian countries are temporarily barred from entering the Maldives. With a confirmed booking for a stay at any licensed tourist facility in the world, all tourists are issued a 30-day free on-arrival visa. In suburban Maldivian islands, Indian visitors are limited to guesthouses and local hotels. This provisional ban would not extend to resorts and hotels that are located outside of the city limits.
Travelers from India to the Maldives must show evidence of a negative DNA test if they have spent more than 24 hours in transit in India. This excludes those who have received a full COVID-19 vaccination. Maldivian nationals and work permit holders arriving in the Maldives from India must also undergo a DNA screening within 24 hours of arrival and a 10-day quarantine period. Children under the age of one year are not included.
