The Maldives is continuing its attempts to be one of the first countries to prescribe the COVID-19 vaccine to all tourism staff. "Our primary goal is to vaccinate the whole Maldivian population," Minister said. "After that, we'll move on to the 3V program, which stands for "visit, vaccinate, and holiday."
On February 1, 2021, the Maldives began a nationwide vaccine campaign. The Covishield vaccine was used in the first round of vaccines in the Maldives. The Serum Institute of India (SII) developed the "Covishield" brand vaccine, which had the same formula as the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine. The vaccine must be given twice to complete the dose, with a gap of 4-12 weeks between doses.
